Batteries
Batteries give the ease of portability with our tools and equipment. A chemical reaction occurs in the battery to generate electricity which involves toxic and explosive substances. Batteries produce Hydrogen Gas, which is explosive. When this gas mixes with oxygen and finds a source of ignition an explosion occurs. These instances rarely happen, but even something as simple as a flashlight can explode. Here are some safety tips to apply to batteries:
” Read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions
” Do not mix different types of batteries
” Do not use damaged or leaking batteries
” Do not use damaged charging stations
” Do not mix charging stations/batteries for tools
