Risks and Hazards

30 Nov

What is the difference between a risk and a hazard? While not being exactly synonymous, a risk and a hazard are in a very close relationship. Whether you like the fact or not, a worker is risking their safety every time they step onto a construction site.  It’s the nature of our business. There can be hundreds of different men and women working on 1 job within numerous trades.  While being aware of each other is key, it’s very difficult for everyone to be working cohesively so hazards will be present. Limiting the number of hazards will reduce the risk of injury.  Big or small it all matters; from making sure there is a properly marked off zone for a crane, to always having a clear path of egress wherever you’re working. Always err on the side of safety.
