Near Misses

16 Mar

Near misses should not be brushed under the rug, and should be reported like any other incident on a jobsite. A near miss means you nearly avoided injuring yourself and you should report whatever almost caused the incident. The importance of this is that if you were almost injured from something and did nothing to remedy it, there’s nothing to stop it from injuring the next person who isn’t aware of the danger. For example on one of our jobsites an employee tripped on plywood on a walkway, but was able to catch himself and ended up with no bodily injuries. He should’ve notified the GC to fix this hazard because later on in the day another one of our employees also tripped on the plywood and ended up injuring himself.  Report all near misses as an incident.
