Multi Employer Worksites – 2

21 Aug

The jobsite has multiple trades working to complete the building. And while everyone is trying their best to get the job done and make sure everyone is safe, 100% communication with everyone on the jobsite is a hard task to accomplish. You can be working on your task perfectly safe, but if something is occurring that you are not aware of, you cannot prepare properly for it. We had an employee receive a minor injury recently when they were working in a safe manner for their task, but the HVAC contractor ran air thru their ducts to clear them. Since the employee was not aware of this, only glasses were being worn which allowed smaller particles to pass by and aggravate their eyes. If known ahead of time the proper procedure would be to wear the proper eyewear and/or facemask, or if not available then the employee would need to evacuate the work area until it is clear. This is the importance of communicating not only with your fellow electricians but with the other trades to make the jobsite safe.
