Falling Objects

28 Aug

Falling or moving objects disable more than 260,000 workers a year.  To break that down, for every 100 workers, 14 of those workers get struck by an object. The most common thing that comes to mind when thinking of falling objects and injuries is head injuries.  That is why hard hats are so important and so heavily stressed.  Sometimes it can mean the difference in having a minor injury and a major/fatal injury.  A head injury isn’t the only thing to worry about; you can get struck on any part of your body from a falling object.  You can’t go around the job site wearing a full suit of armor, so aside from your hard hat, it is always important to wear all your PPE. Your steel toed boots protect your feet, glasses protect your eyes, gloves protect  your hands and your safety vest helps you stand out so people know you’re there.
